"Anything that Flies!"

The theme for L's scout cake bake this year - "Anything that Flies!"
His idea Snoopy! (You know - Snoopy, the Red Baron)

The challenge was to find a cake he was able to do most of the work on.
Here is what we found.  Great ideas and step-by-step instructions.

Great Job L!

Field Trip!

It wasn't until I went to post that I realized exactly how long it has been since I had a post on my blog!  I guess the snowstorm, - temps and a nasty virus in the family just wasn't much to post about!

Any guess as to where our President's Day field trip was?!

As it was a holiday, J was able to join us.  It was great to have him along!

We all "got" to wear this beautiful accessory - which about ended the trip for M.  I think the only thing saving this experience for him was the knowledge of chocolate to come! (And how does my sister look good - even in a hair net?!)

Our tour began with the history and processing of chocolate . . .

And then on to the good stuff!  Making our own chocolate dipped spoons!

A quick, humorous video about chocolate . . . (that is M in the middle - the only pic with the hair net!)

Today, they were making chocolate covered pretzels!  In they go . . .

and out they come!  Yummy! (Yes, we did get a fresh sample!)

Here we were shown some of the molded chocolates they make - a dinosaur tooth!

Yay!  We can finally take the hair net off!!  A goodie bag and a golden ticket!

Day 338-344

Day 338, Sunday, December 5th
My sister's Christmas tree tied to the top of their car.

Day 339, Monday, December 6th
Baby Girl playing by herself, in one spot, for an extended period of time!  This doesn't happen very often, so I thought I'd better document it!

She caught me!  Gotta love that smile!

Time to play out in the snow!

Day 340, Tuesday, December 7th
Baby Girl on the way home from bible study.  She didn't quite make it home.  Of course, the 3 trains I caught did not help!

Yeah, I sat there for a long time and took some more pictures!

Day 341, Wednesday, December 8th
History day!  After reading about early African history and some of the Anansi stories, we made our own Anansi's.

Day 342, Thursday, December 9th
Hubby making sausage-in-jalapenos for a work carry in:  halving and deseeding . . .

stuff with sausage and cooking in soy sauce . . .

cooked and all ready to eat!

Day 343, Friday, December 10th
Happy Birthday to my nephew!  He is eating his first cupcake - with a fork!

Day 344, Saturday, December 11th
Celebrating another birthday - trash truck style!

One of the games - spin and then see how fast you can dress in the coveralls!

Day 303-309

Day 303, Sunday, October 31st
We had a great day planned with some small group members.  We were going to have a chili dinner, take a hay-ride and carve pumpkins.  But, due to our yucky sickness, none of that happened!  So much for making plans.

Day 304, Monday, November 1st
Another one down . . . J was home today with the cursed bug.  As you can see, we enjoyed him being here!

Day 305, Tuesday, November 2nd
Today we had a "muffin-tin" lunch - first seen here - and the kids loved it!  Not that you can tell by the expressions on their faces!

Day 306, Wednesday, November 3rd
One plus of Mom working - when she brings home ice-cream!

Day 307, Thursday, November 4th
We received our second load of wood for the season . . . hard at work getting it in before the rain/snow comes our way.

And a close-up of that little elf? in the background (Grandpa had created this hat for hunting and it's just to funny to part with).

Day 308, Friday, November 5th
Our first snow of the year!  Didn't really amount to much, but it counts!

It is harder to see the snow in this one, but do you recognize the view.  This post was just a couple of weeks ago!

Day 309, Saturday, November 6th
I would feel like I was leaving something major out if I didn't include a picture of the "silly" trend that has taken our house by storm!  These are M's new Star Wars "Silly Bands".

Day296-302

Day 296, Sunday, October 24th
Another beautiful fall day and Baby Girl's first "walk" back to Nana and Papa's.

Mother-Son date night at church.  We made our own pizzas and watched a movie together.

Day 297, Monday, October 24th
Scout awards tonight!  L was really looking forward to it - until they mentioned that he would be getting his face painted like an Indian.  L has never liked face-painting, fake tattoos, even stamps.   Even at a visit to Chucky Cheese, I have to convince him that he can't go in unless he gets an invisible stamp on his hand!  This dislike is written all over his face!

Oh, wait . . . Dad gets painted too?!

Now, that is worth smiling for!

He even made it home with his stripes and didn't wash it off right away!

Day 298, Tuesday, October 26th
I have been spending a lot of time here lately - my part-time pizza making job!  Isn't it cute?!  Before it was a pizza place, it was a barber shop.  My father remembers getting his hair cut here when he was a boy.  No matter what you asked for, everyone got the same cut!

Day 299, Wednesday, October 27th
My read I have been trying to get through.  My brother and a brother-in-law suggested it.  Not hard to get through, just hard to find the time to sit down and read it!

Day 300, Thursday, October 28th
Baked apples from Kim!  Yummilicious!  Thanks for the recipe!

Band Fall Party tonight!  J and some friends . . .

M getting ready to head out on the hay-ride.  This boy can just melt my heart!

The older students getting ready for their hay-ride.

L all decorated as a mummy!

Day 301, Friday, October 29th
Hubby came down with it Wednesday and M was the first one to get it.  You know this boy is sick if he is napping!

Day 302, Saturday, October 30th
Can anyone say T-R-O-U-B-L-E?!  Baby Girl didn't want to eat them, she just wanted to dump them all over the floor!  And her attempts to make sure she got sick (using M's toothbrush and drinking from two of his "sick" cups yesterday) apparently worked - she was up shortly after bedtime getting sick. :(
