Leadership and Self-Deception

I am currently reading this book at the suggestion of my brother.

I checked it out for my mother, but have not given it to her yet.

It is geared for a business, but is very helpful for any relationship.

It is very interesting and not nearly as intimidating as it sounds and looks!

Back to School

We're back to books today! I am now homeschooling Jake, Luke and Micah and we made it through our first day! Yeah! Only 179 more to go!

Tugging on my heart strings

Some firsts . . .

Norah's first bath . . . Her first doll . . .

and her first meeting with Toby!

Norah at 1 month!

My goal is to post a picture of Norah each month her first year - this was all I had since I decided to try and do this only this week! Not the best shot, but it will work! I'll try for a better one for 2 months.

Luke's Veggie Stand

Luke was looking for a way to make some money and this is it - a Veggie Stand! He made the sign and decided on a price then picks the veggies and shares some of the profits with his supplier (thanks Nana and Papa!). It now has a cooler to keep the veggies fresher longer.

Nature's Bounty

Here are some before and after pics from our garden this year.
This is before planting, but after plowing and marking the location of where we wanted to put everything.

After a good rain and a sunny day - everything is growing well!

The rewards of lots of hard work . . .

Choose Your Own Adventure

Does anyone else remember these books from when they were younger?

They were a favorite of mine and my cousin Anna's. The Price family came to visit and introduced them to my boys and I was able to pull out my old ones. Maybe next I'll be getting out my Encyclopedia Brown books!

CARNIVAL!

Luke was more concerned about what kind of party he was going to have than what kind of presents he wanted! We decided on a take-off of one of our favorite Wii games - Carnival! Here is the group of contestants (with accessories and all!). Thanks for being there everyone!

Alana provided the face painting . . .
We played balloon darts, spilt milk, ring toss, pigskin pass, bean bag toss . . .

Grandpa Gorbics dressed for the occassion . . . and here is the birthday boy! I can't believe your 9 already! We hope you had a wonderful day!

Late Birthday Wishes!

Luke's 9th birthday has come and gone. We did celebrate it, but I haven't blogged it - here is the first of a few "catch-up" blogs!

Luke started the day with a trip to Shipshewana with Aunt C, Uncle Bob, Aunt Terri, Nana and Papa and kids with an all important stop at Rise and Roll! He requested some of their Cinnamon Carmel donuts! Yummy!!
Here is Luke's birthday "cake". Yes, they are really that good! That good, but very messy!
